Hello, I would like to ask a question regarding a TOYO SR520 upright piano.
I have a strong feeling that there are 4 central notes (specifically C, C#, D, D#) that cause the piano cabinet to resonate at a frequency around 500Hz. Initially, I attributed this to some inefficient damping, but then, after proper checks, I realized that it is actually the CABINET itself that tends to resonate at that frequency; so much so that when generating a tone with a PC and amplifying it through a stereo (near the piano), as soon as I stop it, the piano resonates... but... is this normal?!
I thought that it might be a "characteristic" of the instrument, but I am not convinced.
You can, corresponding to those notes, try pressing the bridge on the soundboard. If the anomalous vibrations disappear, it could depend on slight separations of the bridge itself
Good evening pianoexpert and thank you for the answers, another test that I omitted in my post is that I also tried to put my hand on the strings during that resonance, but it does not seem to come from any of the strings.
To try to describe the type of resonant sound, it is as if a door were being slammed in a marble hall 35m long, 10m wide and 5m high... with a slight modulation of the volume of this "defect"
The piano is equipped with metal wheels, and the floor is tiled; perhaps it does not distribute its weight evenly on the ground, generating some elastic torsion?
It is worth getting some insulators as well, a sort of special small plates to place and lock the wheels so that they are no longer in direct contact with the floor
