Let's start with a simple color camera, which is better. Otherwise, we make life complicated for ourselves.
1) Take the camera (great results have been achieved with the Philips Toucam Pro or the SPC900), and connect it to the telescope, placing it in contact with the eyepiece (the ideal subjects for first experiments are either the moon or a daytime landscape). There are specific adapters available.
2) Focus using the telescope's focuser (do not touch the camera's focus!!)
3) Record a video keeping the observed object well in the center (ideally, one would have motors.)
4) Download the free software Registax (http://www.astronomie.be/registax/)
5) Feed the video into Registax, align it, and average it, discarding the frames most damaged by atmospheric turbulence (the seeing).
6) Process the resulting AVERAGE image with wavelet filters without overdoing it.
And that's it.
In the event that the camera is black and white (native, not in black and white mode!!!), it is necessary to use a filter wheel with Red, Green, and Blue filters.
Record 3 distinct videos and process them using the same methods mentioned above.
Always use Registax to combine the trichromy of the 3 images. A bit like in cinema or theater.
Working with black and white sensors provides more spectral sensitivity, but you lose the simultaneity of the channels. Professionals rarely work in color.
