Tax For The Right To Study

At least this isn't the fault of the Conservatories.

The Tax is owed by anyone enrolled in a 'University, an Academic course at a Conservatory or Academy, or a higher course at a Conservatory. It would be a contribution to fund scholarships, cafeterias, various services, etc.. the government established that amount.

Conservatory and non-conservatory, okay the nice initiatives,...but it remains a 40% increase.

How much is the inflation? Has anyone experienced a 40% increase in fees? I ask because if tomorrow instead of €50 per lesson I asked for €70... probably half of the students would give up

It's clear that 100 in absolute value (which means an increase of 40) mitigates it... but in an economy of scale, it is still a stretch. Who knows if there will be 40% more scholarships, I am truly curious... do statistics exist?

Percentages are dangerous. When you ask for numbers, make sure you are given numbers that are not percentages. And I will explain why. If I increase salaries from 1000 euros to 1500, I have increased them by 50%. If after 5 minutes I bring them back from 1500 euros to 1000, I have decreased them by 33%. In practice, without doing anything, I have increased salaries by 17%!

This is how politicians screw us over. When you hear percentage statistics on TV, know that they are filling you with lies.

If they have to present figures, they should present them naked and crude... Why don't they tell Italians that we have just 1800 billion euros of public deficit towards the European Central Bank? These are statistical figures!!

In Veneto, for ESU (this is the regional name for the Tax here), one used to pay 111 euros and not 100 (anyway, it remains a significant increase).

You have surely read about the increases in university tuition fees in England: no later than 4 months ago, I met the rector of the Manchester Conservatory: a course similar to our Three-year degree costs about 12 thousand pounds per year, excluding board/lodging/extras, but they have ensembles that perform pieces composed by students.

So the problem is not so much the extra 40 or 29 euros as it is in the system, as already written several times before.

I doubt that one earns an average of 1,000 euros per month there

But look, in Milan, those enrolled in academic courses (composition, obviously) hear their pieces being performed... so every situation is unique to its own context.

To avoid confusion, you must always ask yourself: "xxx% compared to what?" and you will see that everything will be clear to you and you won't think they have increased it by 17%.

Parenthesis: gasoline on an annual basis (i.e., compared to last year) has increased by 20%

1. Making due proportions, 12,000 pounds (about 15,000 euros) in Manchester corresponds, to be generous, to 8/9,000 euros here: with that amount you go to Bocconi

2. In Manchester, the (almost weekly) performance of pieces is an integral part of the course (they have a symphony orchestra, various chamber groups, etc.); I saw something similar in Poznan, Poland. And anyway, it does happen in Italy too, certainly, but not everywhere: there are Conservatories where they don't even do the Composition class exam, let alone anything else..

Stimulating speech, indeed in Milan they perform the pieces... too bad they get lost in a glass of water; I say this because with very little they could even record them.

It is also true that only some instrumentations are available (and they are binding ... far from a symphony orchestra.

Anyway, all things considered, when you have the electronic music department in your stable, the cost of a recording tends toward 0 ... and maybe it would make several students happy

... then maybe it turns out to be because of SIAE ...

I was actually saying this for others. On TV, they never make this distinction; they launch percentages without giving time references, that's why they tell people a sea of lies...
