I am reporting an interesting text that I am reading at this time.
it is called: "HISTORY OF JAZZ", by Ted Gioia. It is part of the "Grandi Storie" series and
is published by EDT. It is a text that was originally written in English but was then translated
into various languages, including Italian.
The contents, even if they are well-worn tropes, are nonetheless presented in a lively and intriguing way.
It often tends to debunk many clichés when it comes to telling the history of jazz,
and it does so, in part, with a gossipy spirit (?!?!?!) and, in part, by documenting and citing reliable sources.
In the first pages, one perceives a somewhat forced Italian, in the sense that it is clearly understood
that it is an Italian translation from English. In short....the translator could have done better.
Anyway...for being a brick of about 500 pages, I am reading it with pleasure.
