A key and wide-ranging text for the pianist who wants to understand the mechanisms underlying composition and improvisation in a modal context. In this field, literature does not offer much, and what exists is in English.

Thanks, Administrator, it is indeed one of the few texts that treats modal Harmony in an exhaustive and, above all, appropriate manner.

I also wish to inform the members of this site that all the pieces I have posted so far were born from the concepts expressed in the text.

If you want, go ahead and put the link for the sale. Where did you publish it? Amazon?

Good morning Administrator, my texts are two:

"Treatise on Modal Harmony" and "Functional, modal, chromatic harmony, modalization of tonal harmony",

they are preparatory to one another and I have not given them to any publishing house as I am translating them into English.

For the moment I am providing them privately and those in the Italian language will remain in that situation. For those who are interested:

pino.perna@yahoo.it

As far as my records are concerned, 11 in total, they are available in online stores. These records fully express the content of my books and my melodic and harmonic conception in the modal and chromatic field.

Thank you for your interest.

I would like to receive them. I don't know how much I will be able to understand because I am quite rusty even with tonal harmony, let alone modal, and time is always short; perhaps this summer on vacation I will have the time to take a look at them.

Actually, I am also curious to take a look since I am starting to occupy myself in various ways, even if limited to and.

I would like to clarify a few things:

When speaking of Modal Harmony in the strict sense, the conditio sine qua non for its realization is starting from the "Lydian chromatic concept of tonal organization". My text titled "Trattato di armonia modale" (Treatise on Modal Harmony) is a summary in the Italian language of G. Russell's text "Lydian chromatic concept of tonal organization"; this book is prolix and written in English. My text was born this way, by taking notes while studying Russell's text.

The second book, "Armonia funzionale" (Functional Harmony), is instead my own work and is a further evolution of Russell's text.

In fact, Russell's text deals with the application of the modal concept to tonal harmony.

My book "Armonia funzionale" deals exclusively with modal harmony in the strict sense and its natural evolution towards intervallic chromaticism.

The cost of the two texts is 150 euros, half for just one.

MY ADVICE IS TO STUDY BOTH AND FIRST THE "TREATISE ON MODAL HARMONY" THEN THE TEXT "FUNCTIONAL HARMONY".

If one is in a hurry or only wants a "tip" in the field of modal harmony, one can study only the text "Functional Harmony", which is more than sufficient to modalize one's own music.
