We are waiting for the maestro... naturally! I believe that the elliptical shape allows for adjustment in case of excessive play, which is not possible in the case of a cylindrical pin!

Lorenzo has already replied!!! It's exactly like that. However, this adjustment must be delayed. In fact, by rotating the oval pins, the gasket will be more worn due to pressure on a smaller surface area in contact with the pin.
