Dearest pianoexpert and thesimon, I have a doubt that is bothering me... watching tutorial n2 regarding grand piano mechanics, I DID NOT quite understand one thing, namely whether the L-shaped escapement lever, when the jack rises due to the key lever as it is depressed, moves aside because it encounters that stop button seen to its right, and which therefore, since the escapement itself is pivoted and loaded by its spring, is forced to move aside... or what? THANK YOU for your kindness, ability, and expertise in presenting the tutorials.

Mmmm I didn't quite understand your description, anyway let's clarify...

The pianist, by pressing on the lever (1), raises via the pilot (2) the repetition lever assembly composed of levers (3), (5), (9).

When the repetition lever assembly rises, the escapement lever (5) raises the hammer lever (10) which strikes the string (16) precisely because the escapement lever presses on the roller (8).

However, upon reaching a certain height, the escapement lever encounters a felted button (4) that limits its travel, and being hinged on its center pivot (3), it moves aside by moving out from under the roller (8).

The hammer, which has already struck the string in the meantime, has been "caught" by the check (11). When the pianist begins to release the key, the repetition lever (9), being loaded by a spring, raises the hammer lever (10) via the roller (8) and, the escapement lever, also being loaded by the same spring, begins to leave the felted button and repositions itself under the roller to be ready for a new strike. It should be noted that the escapement lever manages to reposition itself under the roller precisely thanks to the repetition lever which, by acting on the roller, raises it just enough to guarantee space for its reinsertion.
