I think you mean on a compositional level; if that is the case, based on what I have "observed" by looking at the score and listening to the piece several times, it will seem

obvious, and most likely it is: it's the compactness (upon listening), there is a dialogue between the two instruments that runs smoothly; it gives me the sensation

of a sober piece, in which one does not attempt to do too much but, on the contrary, coherently measures the lyrical needs of the solo instrument and

the role of the piano, which anyway is by no means relegated to being a mere accompanist, but is indeed a dialoguer with the soloist (

as a piece of this type should be).

Anyway, you've caught me off guard with Franck, I think you want to get to the bottom of this "matter"
