To be emotional or not to be emotional while playing?

If I am not mistaken, Busoni used to say that the performer must not become emotional, otherwise the technical control results in being imperfect ... and when that is lacking, it is probably ruin. I imagine many will not have been and are not in agreement.

What do you think?

I can understand what I think he/she meant to imply: not being emotional certainly involves greater control, greater concentration, and less expenditure of energy; however, it depends on the work that the performer must execute, for there is music and then there is music, and much of it, if performed with passion, yields more and is perceived as such.

From my point of view, the last person who can truly afford to be moved is the performer... "full" emotion is a privilege of the audience

It's true, but I also find "typos" annoying too...

I listened to some Horowitz lives where there were quite a few of these "typos" but the final result was masterful... mistakes happen, there's not much to say about it...
