Two-Part Invention No. 1 (A Bit Late, But...)

This is not Bach's invention no. 1 for two voices, the one in C major to be clear, you probably got confused....

It happens, write to someone who often forgets the name of a person they just greeted after a second (but have never seen or known before)

or something they read, even short-term memory is starting to become a problem for me.

Why "A Little Late, But..."?

Because I wrote it in 2000, I only modified something lately.

Smooth, with a couple of harmonic daringness too many for a composition that seems to aim for a stylistic reconstruction.

At a certain point, before the run, it seems to sag a bit or at least spin in on itself, but ultimately it is good to listen to.

Maybe I made a mistake at minute 1:11" by making the trill last one eighth note less; I should have tied it to the last two sixteenth notes of the measure, it would have been more fluid, but by improving the transition to the bass I might be able to make it less unpleasant; at least that's the effect it has on me, as usual when I tackle certain pieces, the result isn't always satisfying.

I still like to remember (in the sense of a real memory, linked to the reality of a day during that period, 2000/2001) that this invention came to mind while I was preparing cement on a construction site; it was comforting to have music in my head while doing something not exactly pleasant, the difficult part was keeping it in my head all day without forgetting it, that's when the memory was working.

Thanks, but surely with an analysis stylistic errors would emerge; I am always a bit out of style, but that is not a merit, rather a flaw of mine.

The discussion about views is interesting instead: out of 64 on this forum, only 18 have viewed the video (I say this only because it is obviously possible to see these statistics); I am sure that when people read "two-voice invention" they think of Bach, but as soon as they realize it is not one of his, they change course.
