Good morning,
When the lid is closed, the music rest hits the black keys.
In the presence of music rest hinges that are too loose, how do you solve it? If one wants to keep the originals.
(disassembling them by pulling out the pin and narrowing the eyelets... it seems a bit empirical and not long-lasting work to me)

I think the best solution is to close the old holes and redo them

maybe I didn't express myself well,
I didn't mean the screws in the wood, but the loose hinges that don't support the music stand when the key cover is closed,,, and consequently the music stand hits the black keys... (it opens by itself, when it should remain closed)

Dear Gia, if the hinges are brass, you can try to disassemble one and tap them against the pin on its flat part. Brass deforms and fits closer to the pin. If it is light metal plated with brass, you can attempt the same thing. If they are steel, don't count on it. The only option left is to change them. Before tapping them, you can try putting them in the freezer. The two different coefficients of expansion (the brass of the hinge and the iron of the pin) will shrink the pieces differently, which, when tapped and brought back to room temperature, might tighten better. It's all worth a try.
