First of all, I want to congratulate Paolo for the clear and detailed exposition: in my opinion, it would also be useful to state, perhaps here, the reference texts that were relied upon, in addition to naturally the actual practice itself carried out over the years.

P.s.

Simone, you play amazingly! Every day that I see your videos, you are an inspiration for me to improve: I find that watching the movements of another pianist is an important point for improving one's own technique.

We will talk about the texts. No. 2 will be released shortly. Thank you for the compliments. Anyway, without Simone, this would not be possible.

Very interesting videos, but I would have liked the second video more if you also talked about the levers represented by the various bones of the hand, the wrist, the forearm, the arm and, above all, the function of the scapulae.

Hi tgdigit, you are perfectly right. Unfortunately, the subject is much broader than what we have said and going into details would put the video at risk of being boring. Our tutorials are in-depth studies on piano-related topics and more. Expressing everything without having a direct relationship with people is very difficult because, as you can imagine, everyone has their own particular curiosity; therefore, we often find ourselves forced to speak about what is as strictly limited as possible to what will be useful for subsequent videos, perhaps omitting aspects that could be interesting to others. I hope the video was to your liking anyway...

Dear tgdigit,

Your observation is quite correct, but also deliberately, I have reserved speaking about "levers" for when, in the third lesson, I will introduce the concept of "fundamental basic gestures." I am interested in focusing on the difference between "elements" of piano technique and "gestures" of piano technique. It is evident that for every element to be resolved, we implement different gestures and therefore set in motion the "levers" that you are questioning. Will we not always refer to the anatomical aspect? Because I would not want too much "science" to distance the student and the scholar from intuition. The assimilation of the correct movement should also occur inductively, leaving scientific reflection the space it deserves. Sometimes, mind you, one gets lost in a convoluted analysis: "since I move my wrist like this.... since I articulate my fingers.... since I use my forearm......" these are phrases I have often heard from some students who, discovering new body movements, fixate a bit on the exclusive utility of this or that part of their own body. Knowing and even slightly diminishing means being conscious of the movement, but look toward the goal of naturalization.

Well ...too many words

See you soon..with the third video (Perhaps early days of the year)

Congratulations on the site, it excites and intrigues me very much even though I haven't explored all of it yet. I found the videos on piano technique very fascinating and wanted to ask if there are only 2 video tutorials available. THANK YOU and good work!!!

Infinite thanks, in our own small way we try to do our best... For the moment there are only two. The third will be released in the coming days. The column is very long. It takes a little patience, time is what it is, and creating one requires different amounts of time between organizing the material, filming, editing, and publishing.

Thank you, talk to you again soon!
