Hello everyone, for a year I have had a 13-year-old student who comes to violin lessons once a week... At the moment I am using the Suzuki book and the "Laoureux". Would anyone who knows these books well be able to tell me if they are good methods or if better books exist? I am in my early experiences with teaching.

On one hand, the best way might be to propose the methods that led you to graduate and that you know firsthand worked primarily for you. After exploring the landscape of methods, you would then have to buy and explore them; you could start with these:
CURCI Fundamental Violin Technique, vol. I
LAOUREUX, Violin Method, vol. I
CRICKBOOM Le violon, Schott
The Dorflein Method, Schott
KALLAY, Violinschule, EMB
In particular for children, you could also use the following, which are nicely progressive:

I am a Suzuki teacher and I would like to tell you that using the Suzuki method books without having deeply studied the Suzuki Method in its entirety is not of much use. When about thirty years ago I picked up a book from this series, I was completely dissatisfied; I only saw a series of pieces more or less suitable for children. I simply did not know what it was about. Given that I have no financial gain from what I am about to add, I recommend you first read the following text: <Shinichi Suzuki: The Early Development of Skills Starting from Age Zero>, publisher Volontè & C. - Milan. After this reading, or if you wish even before, you can contact me (mauro.biancolevrin@libero.it) and I will be happy to send you some PDFs containing some fundamental themes of the methodology devised by Dr. Suzuki.
