The problem is that when I use any piano VST, I have stability issues even when using high latencies. The strange thing is that when the VST crashes, I close it, restart it, and it still doesn't work afterwards (meaning no sounds can be heard, even though I have configured the MIDI audio inputs and outputs correctly): if I then turn the interface off and on again without touching any settings, everything works until, for some unknown reason, either the VST crashes or inharmonic sounds are heard. Do you think it could be a hardware compatibility problem?
I saw that your PC has 4 GB of RAM. Did you make sure to close all other applications before opening Cubase? The second aspect is that I see a 640 GB 5400 RPM hard disk. A bit slow to make the libraries work properly. I also see a 64-bit operating system. Are you using the 64-bit version of Cubase? Otherwise, you only have 2^32 RAM addressing, rather than 2^64. In any case, increasing the latency should make things work okay. If the problem persists even after increasing the latency, it could be the audio card drivers. Try connecting to the website and downloading the latest driver updates. If it still doesn't work, I think the only option is to format the PC. Often it takes less effort to start from scratch and reinstall everything than to spend days trying to figure out what the problem is. The evaluation should be done anyway by loading an extremely lightweight library into the VST; if it crashes in this case too, it could also be the library player—I don't know what you use... Thanks: I think one reason is that I need to format the computer because I've needed to do it for a while, but since I am in the middle of exams, I will do it in October. The drivers are updated for Windows 7 64-bit, but I don't know if they were done correctly. Unfortunately, during this period I cannot perform the tests I would like, but I haven't installed Cubase: I have tried with Kontakt, the East West player, and also with the Garritan Steinway player.
