To summarize, Ludwig was a mythomaniac (and homosexual, which often makes things worse). And Wagner took advantage of it.

it seems to me that the situation is this:
1) Ludwig of Bavaria sets his sights on Wagner for now;
2) Wagner tries to understand why and assumes it is because he (Wagner) is a myth, a bit like Shakespeare and Beethoven;
3) and remembers how much satisfaction the dream in which he met Shakespeare gave him...
Hence my sentences. Ludwig was a homosexual mythomaniac, Wagner enjoyed being adored with pleasure, and for payment, and was so egocentric as to justify the thing (the adoration) as normal, since he himself adored Shakespeare and Beethoven
