Beautiful, very focused and at the beginning of the concert, very emotional... Great artist...

A curiosity about this Ingolf ....when I saw him play, I had the feeling that he was a violinist or at least that he played the violin a bit. If you notice in this video, at certain moments Ingolf leans on the arrival keys (especially at the end of a phrase or on the longer notes) making movements like the vibrato of violinists, almost as if his instinct wanted to make the piano string vibrate to make it more expressive.....the thing made me think of a violinist ...and in fact Ingolf is also a violinist. He started by graduating in violin and then ended up with the piano....

a question for the experts: is it true that the Chopin competition has declined in level over the years?? or is it just the usual unpleasant phrase that presumptuously wants to claim that yesterday's is better than today's??

Hi Sisifo1987.....I am by no means an expert, in fact, I'm not even a pianist, I just madly love Chopin who for me is a great one, among the greatest. I studied violin and I enjoy playing the piano. I have also heard something regarding the Warsaw competition ....I know there were complaints not even long ago. I am aware, for example, that Pogorelich (how do you spell it? ....sorry but I don't remember) was once eliminated, much to the indignation of Martha Argerich, who in total outrage abandoned the jury in protest, asserting that to her he was a genius. In 2010 Avdeeva won, although I confess that I liked Ingolf more....in fact, he won for best interpretation of the Chopin concerto and for best interpretation of the Polonaise. One thing I wonder is how it is possible to win two best interpretations and then not win the competition... well! They are mysteries!....perhaps Avdeeva was more correct in terms of overall complexity... anyway, these events are beautiful to watch... the pianists are breathtaking, all with indescribable skill and it is moving to listen to them.
