On January 28, 1985, 45 of the most famous and popular artists met to record the song We are the world, a track written by Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie.

A moment comes when we need a call,
when the world must become united again
People are dying
and it is time to help life, the greatest gift in the world.

We cannot go on pretending day after day
that someone, somewhere, will soon change things.
All of us are part of God's great family
and, you know, in truth love is all we need.

We are the world, we are the children
we are those who will one day bring the light,
so let us begin to give.
It is a choice we are making,
we are saving our very own lives,
we truly will build better days, you and I

Send them your heart
so they will know that someone loves them
and their lives will be stronger and freer.
As God showed us, turning stone into bread,
so we all should lend a helping hand.

We are the world, we are the children
we are those who will one day bring the light,
so let us begin to give.
It is a choice we are making,
we are saving our very own lives,
we truly will build better days, you and I

When you are sad and tired, it seems there is no hope,
but, if you have faith, we cannot be defeated.
Let us realize that things can only change
when we are united as one.

We are the world, we are the children
we are those who will one day bring the light,
so let us begin to give.
It is a choice we are making,
we are saving our very own lives,
we truly will build better days, you and I

I wouldn't want to sound pessimistic, but lately things are certainly not going in this direction. Be that as it may, it remains a very beautiful song with deep and topical lyrics.

It's true dear Giovanni ... things are not going in this direction.

But precisely because things are not going in this direction, it seemed even more right to propose it again.
