Hello everyone,

my name is Antonio, here is the story that brought me here.
The piano shop below my house was closing forever and the owner, Mr. Manlio, practically gave me an upright piano for free. A Robert Raathorne & Son, English, from 1928. Probably nobody knows it because it is a low-end brand.

One of those instruments that should be taken directly to be scrapped, without even thinking about laying a finger on it.

Full of mold and dust, with black legs, practically rotten.

However, the soundboard is intact, the strings - although a bit oxidized - are all there and the A still holds its 440. I am interested in it so that I can perform some experiments with non-equal temperament tunings without fear of causing damage.

To do this, I will have to disassemble it and clean it up a bit anyway, so I have started looking for websites that explain well how a piano works.

I will probably have a little fun practicing restoration, I will record some experiments with Just Intonation tunings, and then I will scrap it. Basically, like when you give a broken alarm clock to a child so they can look inside.
