I have been a religion teacher since 1981, married to Graziella since 1986, and we have 5 children. There is an interest in music in our home; in the living room, we have an upright piano that seems to be placed there to remind us that music is important.

I am not a pianist, but as a young man I started studying the piano, only to abandon it because of some friends who invited me to play the guitar. (Having followed that invitation, I now consider it a mistake).

I believe I have a certain musicality and I remember that back then I was very attentive to finding the chords of a musical piece... but that belongs to other times.

You might wonder why I bought a piano then, but it is because I hoped that one of my children would learn the piano.

Unfortunately, I haven't been so lucky, although I must admit that some of my children show a pronounced musical sense and are beginning to be attracted to this unused piano.

As self-taught players, we have started hitting the keys and it is possible to hum (by ear) a few musical pieces.

The piano I have is a Carl Mand Coblenz from the beginning of the century, bought in Catania back in 1992; as learned from Paolo Ferrarelli in the video Lesson 2 "Journey inside the piano," it certainly needs necessary Tuning, Regulation, and Voicing. I do not know any good local technicians; my fear is to encounter an expense that I cannot quantify—one of the real reasons being limited financial availability, so I am waiting for better times.

Another question: are there courses to become a tuning technician (province of Catania, my son asked me this question), and the other question is whether it is possible to know what compensation is adequate for a technician's home visit.

I will now conclude by expressing my thanks for everything you do and sincere greetings to all members of the Forum. Bye!

Welcome. I am asked many things from Sicily. I do not know the reality of Technicians in this territory. I hope there are capable people. The best thing is to turn to dealership stores of major brands.

Hi Idrel, welcome! Enjoy your stay.

And as for the piano, you never know. I have the example of people who at 75 years old learned with really good results.
