I cannot find any trace of my response to the welcome. Therefore, I thank you again. I have taken up the piano again; so far I have played by ear, except for one study of a few months. I liked Pianoconcerto for the moderation of tones, the specificity of the responses, the civility of disagreements, and the promptness of the moderators' interventions.
Without a teacher, I finished Beyer 101. I have reached exercise 50 of Czerny 599, listening to the exercises on YouTube. I am retired, alas not a 'baby pensioner'. I have therefore replaced the systematic study of these texts and those that follow with the more rewarding study of classical and simple pieces.
I dare to ask a question. Since I do not need to perform, does it make sense to replace standard exercises with the study of pieces by Chopin (my first...), Bach (my first Bach), and other pieces played by great pianists like Kissin, Michelangeli, and others?
