to tell the truth, I am starting up again now after a full 10 years (I'm already an old lady) and......I feel a little bit lonely...all my "music" friends are far away by now....but taking a look at your forum, I liked your way of discussing and questioning yourselves cheerfully...I hope to be a part of it!!!

Welcome among us, Nancy. Loneliness belongs to all of us, musicians and... sometimes not. It is very easy to share a problem, but very difficult to share a joy. Music is a particular joy and sharing it is very difficult. Sometimes even I feel a bit of emptiness around me. This forum also wants to be a place where those who make music can simply meet and feel close to one another. To me, a man of the 1900s, it still amazes me that one can speak with the World in real time, just by pressing a button!!! It's incredible and I believe I enjoy it much more than those born with a computer right next to their baby food!!! 78 rpm records and 45 rpm microgrooves are now antiques... and to think that was the only way to listen to a great pianist at home. Today, by always pressing that "button," we can see and hear great and small pianists playing!!!! let's take advantage of this and let's take advantage to exchange our artistic experiences.

....in effect, after this long break, I am overwhelmed by how technology has revolutionized the way we listen to and share music. before, comparison was only direct through concerts or "salons" among friends" and the purchase of records and then CDs allowed listening to the greats, but not to the "sea" of performers and musical ideas truly in circulation. now "that button" is magical....the same piece can be listened to played by a thousand strangers. an enormous cultural heritage to draw from.....of course, the old salon among friends cannot be easily replaced.....but it's not certain that the same warm atmosphere of sharing cannot also be recreated with virtual means.
