What a bad Aida! Terrible direction, modest cast and very ugly staging
Yesterday Maestri was technically saving things, a bit of an Aida despite a clamorous high C crack in the third act; Sartori could not vocally sustain the part (no one asked for an encore of celeste Aida); Casolla, although being a great actress, has already given all she has, and the conductor was nefarious.
The staging disappointed me compared to their very high average standard.
