What is art?

Does anyone know Plato's Socratic dialogues? In extreme summary .... "if it does not care, it is not art"

One could almost say that art is a rereading of existence by an artist who translates their world in search of a truth ... through their way of inventing.

I was intrigued by this joke based on the definition of art given by Benedetto Croce: "L'arte è la pallincinetica obliterazione dell'io cosciente nell'antropomorfismo universale."

Can you help me understand it? I just couldn't make sense of it

Art is a human expression that distinguishes itself from other spheres of the human (such as Science, Law) by virtue of the aesthetic factor given as priority.

Art is always the expression of an inner world (of the artist): an inner world nourished and built upon their previous impressions (of the world, of life, of their era, and of the works of the artists who preceded them).

Speech too difficult

Explaining what art is is a bit like describing what love is... No matter how many definitions one might give, the discussion always remains incomplete.

one tries: even knowing that the definition will be incomplete and partial (but committing as if one wanted to reach a complete definition)

With all due respect to the limitations of the case, as already highlighted by others, I feel very close to the definition given by Gerardo
