I thought I had already replied, anyway, I repeat the answer.

Kawai's innovation consists of the introduction of plastic and carbon parts (bridge). I am particularly distrustful of the reliability of such materials. Wood absorbs and yields to humidity, and the cashmere cloth that holds the center pin "marries" very well with the wood. All three elements coexist very well. Carbon and plastic entrust the responsibility of these failures and absorptions exclusively to the cloth, which is a very heavy burden for the pin. Often, even on recently built pianos, one finds stuck tuning pins and it is necessary to re-ream the holes, obviously enlarging the pins!!!! Also, the greater lightness of the carbon piece is a "fairy tale." One must always and anyway deal with the inertia of the design!!!! Good music.
