Alessandro Solbiati: the 'premiere' of «Leggenda» at the Carignano in Turin
Last performance tonight for Leggenda, an opera by Alessandro Solbiati co-produced by Regio di Torino and the Mito festival. We attended the premiere at the Carignano in Turin
Axiom: theater is action, even musical theater, of course, from Monteverdi to Stravinsky: at least, it should be noted, theater is primarily action. If there is no action... it is not theater, it is something else. This is what some maintained, with a rigidity that was all too trenchant, to be honest, upon exiting the eighteenth-century Teatro Carignano in Turin, after having attended the world premiere performance of Alessandro Solbiati's Leggenda: an opera in one act (prologue, four scenes and epilogue), co-produced by Regio (which commissioned it) and MiTo (last September 20th, with performances on the 24th and again on the 27th).
