London recycles electricity from subway braking
An increasingly "green" city, London introduces a new system to recycle energy wasted from subway braking to produce electricity

After the ecological turning point for the legendary red London buses, powered by electricity, now it is the subway's turn. Transport for London (TfL), the body that manages the city's public transport, announced this. This innovative system, which allows for the optimization of energy waste by exploiting a means of transport in daily service, has been tested in recent weeks. It is a technology that would allow London subways to achieve a 5% saving on their energy bills, potentially saving the agency about 6 million pounds per year, which can be reinvested to improve the state of transport.

It is the same operating principle as the electric KERS of F1 cars.. I studied this topic a bit at school this year

To put it in veeeery simple terms, the electrical energy is not introduced into the grid available to everyone but is simply reused by the subway itself (which increases the efficiency of the savings since it shouldn't have to pass through an additional transformer). In essence, the saving lies in the fact that upstream, less energy is supplied to the subway because it reuses a small amount of what has already been supplied to it

I am always ahead on these things, let's just say they see it with the Japanese.

Maybe I would be reborn in one of these places.

Look Piccinesco, even here in Italy "theoretically" meaning we are advanced in ideas, "practically" we have a looooot to learn instead

With us, those who have ideas hardly find support; on the contrary, they are seen as an obstacle, almost a danger to our highly questionable "balance."

We have avalanches of ideas here in Italy and we also have the minds to realize them; the problem is that to create something, money is needed which they do not give (pay attention to the term, "there aren't any" would be incorrect). To give a small example... At the national nuclear physics laboratories in Frascati, there is a very small electrosynchrotron. On that, Italians have made countless discoveries and have instructed countries equipped with much larger accelerators, such as the one in Geneva, on the energy band in which to conduct experiments that ultimately revealed the intuitions of Italian scientists.

The first hydrogen machine was invented here in Italy in the 70s... One could provide many examples. Italy's problem is that the state does not invest funds into research. Research is the true future of a country, and if as much money circulated as it does in the world of football, we would be number one in the world. Unfortunately, however, "normally gifted" minds prefer to give 10 million euros a year to an idiot who, like in prehistoric figures, runs after a ball. Obviously, I am not angry with the idiot, but with those who give it to him. A country that does not understand this very simple thing does not deserve to evolve and deserves everything it has, from politics all the way to the mafia. To solve the world's problems, very little would actually be needed because we have all the necessary technologies to solve a large part of these problems. The discussion is only focused on the economic aspect. They will continue to burn oil until the last drop is gone, despite the environmental catastrophes raging throughout the entire world (floods, inundations). Politicians are merely great irresponsibles. They are poisoning this planet by obscuring the sacrifices of scientists who fight and conduct research to create a better world, solely for economic purposes. To keep the "normally gifted" content, they feed them 'men and women', 'Big Brother', and football matches. Ignorance is the worst evil. If people started thinking with their own brains, perhaps the political class would not be able to afford to play good cop and bad cop on the skin of others. I, who turned off the TV many years ago and never turned it back on, observe this...
