A milestone of 1980s cinema and winner of the 40th Cannes Film Festival, Wings of Desire is Wim Wenders' most inspired film. The German director drew upon images from the poet Rilke and collaborated with Peter Handke for the dialogues. A film of great narrative and musical scope, set in Berlin during the Cold War era.
SYNOPSIS
Two angels, Damiel and Cassiel, mingling unseen among the population of Berlin, discover that the widespread sadness is due to humans' inability to communicate. A similar problem arises for Damiel, who falls in love with an aerialist whom he cannot even be seen by because he is pure spirit. But a former angel will help him become a mere mortal and thus be loved by the woman. The screening is proposed with Acusmonium Sator (40 speakers), performers: Dante Tanzi and Giovanni Cospito.
The screening will be preceded at 6:30 PM by the opening of the exhibition by photographer Joel Meyerowitz at the Galleria San Fedele.
