Dear all, does it also seem to you that the pianist's wrist is a bit like the throat for the singer,
i.e., in order to transfer weight well and control it, it is necessary that the wrist does not lock up

Neurovegetative relaxation is necessary. The muscles do what the head says, as long as we have nerves connecting them to a brain. And then, the entire body participates in the piano gesture, including the viscera.

Since a topic already exists, I'll write it here... when you play, how do you prevent your wrist from dropping below the level of the keyboard?
I try to relax completely when playing, and I actually feel my arm being "pulled down" by gravity. The problem is that if it does, the wrist drops too. So I don't understand... must the wrist be controlled (do you have to struggle to keep it up)? or should it be kept "dead weight" like the arm?
All the pianists I've asked have answered that they don't think about it at all and the wrist just stays up on its own... well, I don't know
