I finally bought it.

690 euros including Case, stand, and Sennheiser headphones.

I will report a comparison with my 2005 Yamaha P-60 and a modern Kawai MP10.

In short

1) Decidedly beautiful sound, even without amplification by using the keyboard's speakers.

The comparison with the sound of the P60 speakers is embarrassing.

The bass of the P105b used on a stand, and therefore leaving all the speakers free, is decidedly good for being "a robot".

The highs are more brilliant and less metallic than the P60.

In the highs, however, when striking the keys with violence, one notices a somewhat artificial change in timbre compared to the MP10 or MP6. But we are talking about thousands of euros difference.

2) The touch is very pleasant and anyway adjustable within certain margins. Much more precise and expressive than a P60.
Makes the escapement effect missing. That typical click heard in a piano keyboard is not there.

But damn, it weighs just over 11 kilos! What did you want? Furthermore, playing a Chopin nocturne, or a Chopin étude, is not at all difficult on this digital piano, and the mechanics allow me to control the sound very well. I would say light years ahead of what happened with the P60.

The keys are plastic, the black ones in satin plastic. The action can be judged as a bit noisy, but nothing dramatic. I would say the noise level is identical to that of the P60, P35, P95, P155.

What is most appreciated in the MP6 and MP10 is also the key length. While on the P105b I notice that pressing the black keys at the end of the stroke, there is greater resistance. It's as I said at the beginning.

3) Connectivity via PC.

The USB port of the keyboard allows it to be interfaced with the computer without other complications. You just need to install a very nasty open source program to read/process MIDI [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_MIDI_editors_and_sequencers] (I chose ANVIL STUDIO).

4) I like the fact that the 2 headphone jacks are on the front of the keyboard and not the back as was the case with the P60.

5) Included in the package is an on/off pedal for the sostenuto; it's plasticky but does its job.

6) Regarding the rhythms/other timbres, it remains science fiction to me. I find them absolutely original, very accurate and pleasant. I take the example of the Harpsichord, in which even the sound of the mechanism during the return phase was sampled.

Can you give me some ideas to deepen the review?

Thanks Simone, I hadn't noticed it. Can you believe I haven't learned how to edit audio + video yet? I use Virtual Dub but it's really annoying me...

Rather, the sounds seem the same to me as my P95. The piano is truly electric; I don't like it, just as I don't like it on mine.

I don't think I'll ever buy a Yamaha again. Playing it every day, in the end, your ear gets used to it. The sound attack isn't too bad if treated with a bit of reverb; it's everything else that sounds truly electronic. What do you say, Enrì?

Bravo Foster, you play well! I like your style. Regarding the keyboard, I agree with Simon, the sound is very fake.

Thanks for the opinions.

What I can say is that for a 590 euro keyboard, it sounds (and works) better than some properly tuned pianos.

It's light enough to carry around (11kg).

The sound is decent on a stand, where the highs and lows are heard very well. Placing it on a table, the sound does not meet expectations (this fact is mentioned in the manual anyway).

Underneath the P105, there are indeed 2 speakers.

As for the difference with the P95, which I have NOT tried, YAMAHA shows this diagram on their website.

Mixed like that, it doesn't say anything. It isn't even clear if such improvements (P105 red line, P95 blue line) are actually perceptible to the human ear.

While the difference in sound between the P105b and my P60 from 2002 (purchase year 2005) is overwhelming. (at the time it cost around 1200 if I'm not mistaken).

Another thing:

with the Kawai MP6 and MP10, the harder I press the key, the louder the sound becomes. It doesn't seem to have a maximum limit.

With the P105, there is a maximum limit. Although you can adjust the touch slightly with 4 different settings.

Well, Kawai pianos really have a different system and use sampled sounds. In reality, the limit exists, but by making very good use of samples, pressing the key with more force corresponds, as in an acoustic piano, to greater kinetic energy of the hammer which ensures that, once the string is struck, more partials develop -> hence the change in timbre (timbre characteristics are influenced ONLY AND SOLELY BY THE PARTIALS; in physical terms... not by amplitude, not by phase, not by frequency... whereas in psychoacoustic terms... not by volume, not by pitch...). Our ears have become accustomed to this change in timbre; it would sound unnatural to us if pressing a key softly or loudly only changed the volume.

Like you, I also think (and you made this very clear) that that graph gives me no indication unless reference values are provided. This frequency response diagram could mean a lot or very little. An increase in dB SPL at low and high frequencies (here we are talking about sound pressure level), okay, by how much? At which frequencies? It doesn't give me much more information than what I would have obtained when buying a Bontempi keyboard for my cousin when she was 5 years old, and for a company like Yamaha, I think this is unacceptable.

The fact that there are two speakers under the keyboard is related to the production of low frequencies. If we imagine a three-dimensional room and our sound as a ball (the sound must be stereo), the volume of the sound decides whether the ball should be placed further forward or further back relative to my observation point, the pan decides if it should be more to the right or more to the left, and the frequency decides if it should be higher or lower. It is no coincidence that in live setups, the subwoofer chain is placed on the ground while the line arrays are placed high up. This reflects the intrinsic spatiality of sound.

I'll try with some models, then you can tell me if it sounds clear this way...

Psychoacoustic sensations of sound allow us to perceive it in three dimensions. In particular: frequency (high note -> high frequency value, or low note -> small frequency value) determines the pitch of the sound. The term "pitch" (altezza del suono) was not chosen by chance, precisely because our ear places the sound higher if the frequency is high, and lower if the frequency is low; in fact, if you think about it, pitch is the first parameter we notice, the best parameter recognizable by the ear in terms of sensitivity, and even if we ask a child what music is, they will answer with musical notes which, in their limited view, are pitches. In an x,y,z space with x and y as plane axes and z as height, we have precisely defined z with the pitch of sounds. The y-axis, instead, allows us to identify which side the sounds are on: left or right. Lastly, on the x-axis, we find volume, which in this case of spatiality I prefer to call the sound plane. The combination of these three quantities gives us the mental representation of sound in space. As I believe I mentioned in another post, it is no coincidence that line arrays are placed high up on the left and right and the subs on the ground. We try to accommodate what our ear would want to hear, which is an extremely sensitive and fascinating organ. In studying it through psychoacoustics, I was literally fascinated—I can find no other term—in discovering its anatomical behavior.
