peeking around here and there, I saw an advertisement for this Zoom Q8. I was wondering, just out of curiosity, if it is really as advertised.
in particular, I was interested in understanding how much they have improved the microphone sensitivity compared to the Zoom H4n.
to me, it seems that with these recorders, dynamics are never rendered at their best anyway... and there is always a flattening of the sounds. I am speaking, as always, as a complete novice.

It is always better to use external mixers and microphones, but it's a nice product.

thanks Xenakis....the problem is that I wouldn't know where to start with a mixer!!.
the recording with the h4n + two decent external microphones (without having to take out a mortgage), in your opinion, how much does it improve in terms of dynamic range?
could I re-record the video with a very simple old-school reflex camera and synchronize with virtual dub?
this guy for example recorded with an h4n plus two rode nt5s and without post-production he obtained a good result, I believe. as far as the video part interests me, it could be even mooolt simpler than this one with all those cameras and robots! i would have put the h4n at the back and not on a stool !!!!!! and two rode nt5s like he did...and at this point I was wondering if these rode nt5s are the minimum indispensable quality...they cost a little bit!!
