I, on the other hand, knew that he improvised a three-voice ricercare. That is why I asked you if the musical offering (which I was not aware of) was a ricercare.

In truth, I also remembered that he had improvised only a ricercare a 3, but before writing I wanted to document myself better and I found this:

a well, in Bach's time the ricercare was one of those fugues with an obligatory theme, I didn't know that... I had stayed with Ricercare like a Frescobaldi-style one

ivanricciardi wrote:The problem is that for now I only have recordings made with the video camera, with very poor audio (the dynamics are all flattened) and full of errors. If it's okay with you, in the meantime I will import them onto the PC as they are and maybe try to equip myself to make some other more decent recordings. What drives me to post the videos with the errors is that perhaps, by seeing which are the critical points (even if many errors are due to memory lapses and distraction), you can help me and advise me on how to eliminate them. Hmm... the idea appeals to me a lot ... I just have to find the time to do it.
As promised, I have posted some videos.

The musical offering is based on the “Thema regium” as proposed by Frederick II, the great King of Prussia, and consists of a cycle of 13 pieces that are indeed based on the thema regium itself. The first piece, Ricercar, is the most important in the collection, which includes nine canons developed in the most disparate ways (retrograde, augmentation, mirror, circular, enigmatic). A canonical fugue, two fugues called ricercar (for three and six voices), and a sonata a tre in 4 movements for flute, violin, and continuo.
