...Following up on Feliciano's "outing"... At the risk of being called a heretic, I'm throwing you a portrait of the "controversial musician" I prefer (if only because he is the one who made me want to play again). Which is ultimately just a pretext: I bought some watercolor pencils and couldn't resist the temptation to try them out.
If you don't already know, I warn you, DeviantArt is a site that is anything but serious, even if it is a good showcase for artists
Zadra is very talented!! how did you learn to paint like this?
When I was little, I also loved painting and I was also very good at drawing... I would have liked to attend art school too, but then I changed paths. Over the years I abandoned this passion, but pencil portraits were my hobby for years
Thank you... It's a family vice, my father and grandfather also painted. And then competition helps to improve a bit (my sister attended the Academy of Fine Arts)
Before I started tattooing (and before the spread of the Internet) I was a freelance illustrator. Anyway, the passion for portraits is recent. I started to practice, since they often ask me to tattoo the face of a relative. Since I can't correct it, I have to get the resemblance right immediately.
Have you stopped completely? It's a shame not having time for all interests, the days would need to be longer
Eh yes!! I stopped completely but I really had a good hand, even if I didn't know who knows what technique... maybe one day I'll start again. Now I feel like dedicating myself to something else... have you ever thought about doing commissioned portraits and advertising yourself via the web?

Yes, but the truth is that as a job, doing tattoos earns more and leaves me more free time for my hobbies. An average tattoo takes two hours, whereas for a painting I take much longer and nobody wants to pay an adequate amount.
Belli Zadra, several users come to mind who are passionate about painting...From the good CromaDi Brera (whatever happened to him?) to the good FabioM...but also Melita, if I'm not mistaken, she was very passionate
Now you too, Zadra...in short, the forum is becoming a den of painters as well
Very well done, it's something I've never said, but if I knew how to draw (even minimally) I would have "added" something more to the possibility of expressing oneself, but I see that (even if I have tried twice in my life) I find myself truly clumsy, almost not knowing where to start, a total block; evidently it should be spontaneous like making music, and for me it isn't like that, it would be something extra.
A pencil, then, would be the best thing because precisely you would do (and you do, as I see) with little what you want.

I find it quite natural to be interested in different forms of art, so it doesn't surprise me. And I am always interested in an exchange of opinions on the subject, so I hope everyone still frequents the forum

True, the pencil is still the easiest medium to control. In any case, it's not strange not knowing where to start; there are methods to learn how to sketch shapes (and overcome blank page panic). Once you understand the basics, the rest is practice. Like music, I imagine
One must try (worst case scenario I'll understand that I am not suited for drawing), I am curious to learn the basics, let's see if we can do something.
To be quite down-to-earth, the essential things are to break down the subject you want to draw into simple shapes (ovals, circles, triangles etc.) and also keep an eye on negative spaces. Oops... Very similar to studying a musical piece, after all!
I am quite satisfied with the drawing, but not as much with the choice of colors, which could have been more cheerful. The technique is always watercolor plus watercolor pencils; I am still experimenting.
(...Then, if you really find out you're untalented, there's always conceptual art )
Spicy and at the same time interesting Zadra... let's just say that conceptual art was created by artists and has produced excellent works; those who attempt stylistic reconstructions today produce results of lesser value precisely because it is a receptacle for "incompetents". It's not certain that it's like this for everyone ... but there, excuses are not in short supply
At first, perhaps they were artists and thought they had a message to convey. Now, instead, tell me how it is possible to distinguish true artists from trolls (and the talentless clever ones) in that field. In my opinion, you can't.
