Hello, I am new and I discovered your site thanks to YouTube...

My name is Salvo, I am 24 years old and I live in Catania...

My passion is music; I like listening to it, and I also like producing it—in fact, I enjoy producing it with a PC...

However, over the years, I have realized that I need to move forward. I produce house, dance, etc., music, but since I produce with a PC, I create the notes using a mouse or a computer keyboard and do everything by ear... Now, instead, I would like to learn how to properly play what I produce on the piano; fortunately, I have one at home so I could even practice, but for example, I cannot play with two hands—I get confused, I don't know exactly the right position. Furthermore, for what I do, I would also need to know a bit of harmony, meaning the various scales that exist, the various chords, etc., etc. I know there is also a technique called ear training or something like that...

Anyway, so I wanted to know if, thanks to your site, I could resolve or at least improve these gaps... for example, I could even skip the topic of reading sheet music for now; what I would mostly like is to be able to play a melody invented by myself, or for example, if I listen to a track, I just need to listen to it to know how to play it...

So, what do you recommend? Which video tutorial should I watch first?

What kind of harmony are you interested in? Ear training deals with listening education in relation to the reference sound system, concepts of tonality and modality, but also other sound systems (pentatonic, hexatonic, etc.)

Surely, in the theoretical field, a lot can be done; there are those who post their own pieces to which suggestions are given. It always depends on the extent of the gaps, the passion one puts into it, the resources one has at their disposal, the capacity for self-criticism, the ability to question oneself, the means of communication...

Well, knowing how to play a polyphonic instrument (like piano, organ, etc.) helps to better develop a vertical conception of music and thus to best master harmony regardless of its nature.

So rather than skipping it, with the aim of acquiring such an ability, I would say approach it in a certain specific way.
