Hello everyone.

With the 2013 ending, I should write the following measure:

Time 4/4; grand staff (x pf: upper staff: treble clef; lower staff: bass clef); first thematic note: dotted half note; second thematic note: quarter note.

Between the half note and the quarter note, I would like to insert a small flourish (essentially an arpeggiated chord) composed of 31 notes, or rather tiny notes, as I would like to write it like a cadenza (to be precise: not a harmonic cadence, but like those typically pianistic passages, rapid and showy, Liszt-style or Chopin-style, so to speak).

Furthermore, this little flourish starts on the bass clef staff and ends on the treble clef staff.

I would like to realize this flourish of 31 tiny notes with a single framework.

Can anyone help me?

There is also an interesting plugin called "Add cue notes" which you can find in the "Scoring and arranging" section of the Plugins menu

ehm, ehm... 2013 finale shouldn't exist... 2012 or 2014.

That said, do everything as usual but then:

1) select the

entire line

2) menu Utilities -> Change -> Note Size

3) Set the desired percentage

It also comes to mind:

Advanced tools, Special tools, Notehead shape

Choose the layer you are interested in (1, 2, 3 or 4)

Some white squares will light up to the left of the note in the selected measure, double-click the mouse (right click) to open the selection menu… choose the head you like

...ah, from the same menu you can adjust stem length, etc. ... so that you can then put a few notes in one staff, others in another and then join them graphically. It is very laborious and it is recommended to work at 200% zoom...

it is partly a deja vu...

i remembered asking something about the subject. i reread the whole thread from top to bottom.

but despite everything, i cannot achieve what i would like (it will probably be a refinement for expert users).

i would like to write this flyer with a single framework that starts from the bottom and reaches the treble, without it being

segmented: that is, those damn values of every single one of the 31 notes, all tied together, naturally,
consequently orienting the leg, depending on the height of the note.

Try putting it on paper and then send a scan ... once it has been finalized by some expert, it will be easy to give you the steps

...this should be of great help to you, that menu is the key to your problem. Try doing as Oracolo says...then we will see about making it happen.

Do you also need a time signature? Anyway, it is a laborious thing; to your question, there is obviously an (elaborate) solution

frank, I didn't quite understand your question regarding the time signature.

anyway, it is a 4/4 measure; the thematic notes (and therefore those at normal size, to be clear) are those in the first movement (the big F#dim7 chord) and the 3 E's in the fourth movement. the rest are just little notes.

But if you tell me it's a complex operation, it doesn't matter. It's not worth it. It is not a structural passage of the piece, it's just an effect-driven filler. It will mean that I will write the first 5-6 notes with a nice AD LIBITUM.

I would write everything on three levels: one for the minim notes, one for the semibreves, and another one for the cadence.

You write the cadence as an irregular group, then hide the small number (31) by moving the notes from one staff to another using the appropriate Tool, and finally resizing it appropriately with the % Tool.

I did it on 2 layers but the procedure is the one described by Red, except for the management of the stems described by others... try to take a look

i am posting the final file, I went by memory for the notes... at most correct a few errors

It seems to me that it's called exactly Note-mover ... but I don't have the program at hand and I can't check!

Yes, it's called Red, but can you do it on 2 different staves?
