Today, the great flautist would have turned 95, and my mind can only race back to 1973/76, when the boy met the Maestro for the first time in a jukebox. Yes! Alongside stainless classics like “

” by John Miles, there was a reimagining of the
, titled “Aria sulla quarta corda”. The kids back then listened to all this music indiscriminately, and that was also how so much classical became pop. On the other hand, it was the era when pop music approached the great Western classical musical tradition.
I later rediscovered Gazzelloni in other music, starting with Brandenburg Concerto No. 2 Bwv 1047 with I Musici – which unfortunately I couldn't find, and so make way for the young ones – and, always with I Musici in the
