On August 18, 1942, Erwin Schulhoff died (Prague, June 8, 1894 – Weißenburg in Bayern, August 18, 1942), a highly talented Czechoslovak composer and pianist with a striking personality. Born to German parents of Jewish origin, he studied at the Prague Conservatory starting at age 10, thanks to the recommendation of Antonín Dvořák, and later studied in Vienna, Leipzig, and Cologne.
Due to his origins, after the advent of Nazism, he worked mainly in Czechoslovakia. In 1939, he decided to become a communist and applied for Soviet citizenship. In 1941, Czechoslovakia was invaded by Nazi troops, and Schulhoff applied to move to the Soviet Union, taking advantage of the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact which protected him as a Soviet citizen; however, Germany subsequently invaded Russia as well, and Schulhoff, still awaiting his expatriation documents, was arrested and interned in the Weißenburg concentration camp in Bavaria, where he died of tuberculosis in August of the following year.

I am a lover of categorization; for several years I have been keeping track of the anniversaries of all the musicians I have met during my journey in a small diary. Now I am even dedicating myself to a draft that aims for some degree of completeness, thanks to the very useful information I gather from the web or musicological texts, of an actual diary of musicians' anniversaries (but not only musicians, also luthiers, organ builders, etc.), but it is progressing a bit slowly given the sheer volume of names I have to enter. In a few months, I have only compiled the days from January 1st to the 24th, and for each day there are about thirty names on average. So many! Below, instead, I report only the anniversaries that I have compiled completely at random over the years, so there are fewer names...
