In any case, is the deadline always the same?

Maybe, I'll try too... Let's see if something comes out. It's been a while since I've missed your labs. Before joining, though, I need to try... At first glance, it seems like a nice theme.

In fact, I've already gotten to work on it and confirm that I will be there. Au revoir...!

As for me, I am sorry that I cannot be part of this beautiful initiative, especially due to the little time I have and also because of my inability. anyway I will follow along.

I've never thought about masterpieces (hahaha), nor about writing sensible things, but at least writing something nice. It would involve a considerable expenditure of time anyway and I want to dedicate myself to something else.
P.S. whoever says that she won't produce a masterpiece this time, I'll be here listening. Good luck!!

In my opinion, it is precisely those who feel they need to improve who may have an interest in participating; this regardless of those who, on the other hand, are already very well prepared, if not even full-fledged teachers, and kindly agree to act as a "model."
In short, it is not a competition and competitiveness can serve, at most, as a didactic incentive; but nothing more.
In fact, I would venture to add that these labs can be the best opportunity to dare to go beyond scholastic correctness, when in a usual course of study one does not have many opportunities to experiment with the effect of "sui generis" solutions and must, instead, first and foremost worry about correctly performing "the task" at hand..

forgive my ignorance, dear Frank, I didn't quite understand what we are supposed to do!
Perhaps create a piece based on the prompt you published?
How is it published?, via sheet music or mp3 audio file?
thanks.

Yes, let's say that the theme is the pretext... one starts from that to develop one's own composition. This would be the fourth experience regarding the piano piece; in the past, there have been those who wrote variations, tripartite pieces, pentapartite pieces, free interpretations even in a Jazz style, those who started from the theme, those who wrote to arrive at the theme, and those who "atonalized" it.
... if there is something about the theme that inspires you ... do not hesitate
At the time, it was decided to work on the same starting idea to give us a point of comparison to unleash our fantasy, share the results, and understand a bit how others approached the material. Therefore, it would be nice if your piece inherited something from the initial idea (not necessarily the melody).

I would say at least the audio file (live recording or a playback); usually, the score is appreciated to better understand what is happening in the piece... but since you compose extemporaneously ... it is right that everyone expresses themselves in the best way and with their desired approach; so do not worry, even just an mp3 is fine.
I usually publish for everyone on the agreed date, in this case 31/05 ... if you want, you can do it independently, as long as you don't beat the deadline.
If you need anything, just give me a whistle

We are certainly within a narrow tonal framework....narrow, actually with bluesy hints, it almost feels like following the harmonic theme of "Summertime". What I can do, as a modalist, when faced with such a harmonic situation, which is rather cadential, is to extrapolate the central gravitational element of the harmony, which is A Aeolian, and revolve around it using satellite harmonies. Use the proposed thematic fragment by facetting it with anticipations, delays, mismatches/asymmetries.....
obviously all while improvising. I prefer a non-jazz elaboration since A Aeolian does not stimulate me in a jazz sense because it is too strong a tonal center; I see a contemporary classical style elaboration more clearly.

How you prefer Modale, I will probably present 2 elaborations, I am working on the second version right now and I should finish in time for the 31st, to tell the truth one can always publish after the deadline (it happens often). Never before

Sorry, maybe I am off topic. but I wanted to ask you why all our discussions and workshops have disappeared from Mychance?

I have prepared the topic
http://www.pianoconc...__fromsearch__1
i have published the first 4 works.
There is certainly my second version plus someone who will publish directly.
If anything is needed, as usual, just give me a whistle
For those who are particularly shy, as agreed, you can send me the piece via PM which I will publish anonymously

True, very inspired. Well done Frank! What else is there?
... go Zaccaria, don't get discouraged.
I haven't listened to them all yet, I'm curious, but I am very captivated by Modale's, another beautiful track. My warmest compliments to you too.
